Incorporated in 1790. Bartlett was named in honor of Dr. Josiah Bartlett of Kingston. Dr. Bartlett was second to sign the Declaration, placing his signature directly underneath the well-known signature of John Hancock. Bartlett is located north of the villages of Conway and borders the White Mountain National Forest. A seasonal, scenic road – Bear Notch Road – permits access to the Kancamagus Highway. Many beautiful hiking and cross country ski trails, scenic overlooks and campgrounds entertain visitors here. Glen and Intervale lie within the borders of Bartlett.
